So I know this guy, his name is David, and hes restoring an Oldsmobile Quad 442, to be exact, this one
And the reason he is restoring it? Well, I'll let him talk, this is from his gofundme page
All, I am putting this together so that I may be able to raise funds to give an amazing present to my father. A man who has done all that he can for not just myself but for all of us!
THIS IS A SUPRISE!!
He is an amazing man! Always giving as much as he can and never asking for anything but love in return. In 1998, shortly after we moved to Sumter SC, my father passed out while driving and woke up inside of his prized Oldsmobile Quad 442 hanging by his seatbelt. As his first brand new car ever, he was very disheartened to see it destroyed from a disease he had been trying to diagnose for many years!
He was retired shortly after this accident from the Air Force and later found out that he had sleep apnea. I was 12 at the time of the accident and loved his car. I loved his car so much that when my father bought me one like his, I did everything I could to match the awesomeness of my fathers car. Yet, over the years, something has always alluded me. The ability to return to my father what his medical condition took from him.......his prized Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Quad 442.
In the course of my business, I have come accross a Quad 442 that I have decided I was going to restore. The original car was black with tan interior with many rust spots showing through, my fathers was in pristene condition with garnet red interior. With the help of two of my father's old Air Force friends, we have begun restoring this vehicle and mimicing my fathers old Cutlass Calais. As of right now, it has just been painted.
My intentions were to keep it a secret as long as possible, and therefore put up most of the cash myself thus far. I am putting this page together to enlist everyone's help in funding this project. My plan, is to have everyone come down for his next birthday and celebrate together. I wll be coming up with a gag to go with the main delivery of the car, just to have some fun with him, but as long as we can keep this project a secret, it will be well worth the wait.
If you can contribute to this cause, please go through and contribute! I have been documenting the progress and will give everyone a dvd of his reaction to when he sees the car, and opens the gag gifts of presents I have been planning. I will continue to write to this blog as I can, and hope that everyone can contribute!
I love you all, thank you for everything we are about to do together!

This guy is one of us, not an oppo but a car guy just trying to do what he can to give something back to his father, and I think it is absolutely awesome. If anyone here wants to donate to help him out, check out his !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Hes got a lot of the work done but as we all know, restorations take 2398475 times more money then we anticipate, every dollar helps, and everyone should at least take a look, because it isn't your usual restoration, it's restoring a vehicle for a family member to replace the original they lost, which is pretty awesome in my book. Give it a look.
Here's a few more pictures of the car

I wish I could give.
The Quad 442 and Grand Am with the same mill were quick little buggers back then.
Before I get classified as "old and wistful", the Quad 442 had a 180hp 4 banger and the last G body 442 only managed 140 with it's 307.
I am old and i'd take either car though.
